In 2007, a street calico broke into the local St. Petersburg zoo. Not knowing exactly where to go first, Calico saw a lynx walking in a cage. The stray cat entered the enclosure without thinking twice, probably hoping to score some leftovers. Now, since the lynx is a wild cat, it’s quite normal for many to think this story ended badly. However, as soon as the cat entered, the lynx greeted his new friend and began licking him!
Officials were surprised to see the lynx hang out with a stray. They went in and pulled out the calico, but the cat ran to the enclosure once more. The two animals obviously came together quickly and shaped a rather unusual relationship.
At that point, zoo officials decided to let the kitten stay. They called her Dusya, and she and Linda (the lynx) became inseparable in the following years. Thousands of people came to see the cats living together, and the zoo constantly posted videos of their time together.
In 2014, the zoo released an incredible video showing Linda and Dusya preparing each other. To be honest, it’s one of the nicest things we’ve ever seen. Of course, the video went viral almost immediately: it was obvious that people are touched by this unusual friendship.
